The dagger is of light gray metal, exquisitely inscribed with a tracery of decorative lines across the blade. The hilt is wrapped in oiled black leather. When first drawn from its sheath for the day, the dagger gleams with white light, a light that seems to pass to into its wielder.
This +1 defending dagger grants the wielder a +2 resistance bonus on all saving throws as long as it is wielded. In addition, once every 24 hours it grants 1d10+10 temporary hit points to anyone who draws it. These temporary hit points last for up to 10 hours.
Prerequisites: Craft Magic Arms and Armor, resistance, false life, and shield or shield of faith.
Cost to Create: 19,351 gp, 1,548 XP, 20 days.
Source: Dungeon Master’s Guide II, page 262. Aura corrected from strong to moderate. The published price of 38,702 gp seems heavily overvalued. Following standard magic item creation rules, a +1 defending dagger (8,302 gp) with a +2 resistance bonus (4,000 gp) and a 1/day CL 10th false life effect (7,200 gp + 50% multiple-ability penalty, if applicable) calculates to roughly 23,102 gp.
