Psibane [Property]

Price: +2 bonus

Property: Weapon

Caster/Manifester Level: 15th/15th

Aura: Strong; (DC 22) no school/clairsentience

Activation: —

This extraordinary weapon is shot through with translucent purple crystal shards. You detect a vague air of menace about it.

A psibane weapon is crafted to oppose psionic beings. When used against any creature that has the psionic subtype, its effective enhancement bonus is 2 higher than its actual enhancement bonus (so a +1 psibane longsword instead has a +3 enhancement bonus against psionic foes). It deals an extra 2d6 points of damage against psionic opponents.

A psibane weapon bestows one negative level on any psionic creature attempting to wield it. This negative level remains as long as the weapon is in hand and disappears when the weapon is no longer wielded. This negative level never results in actual level loss, but it cannot be overcome in any way while the weapon is wielded.

Projectile weapons bestow this property upon their ammunition.

Source: Magic Item Compendium, page 41. Originally published in Expanded Psionics Handbook, page 166. Someone decided to use dispel magic as the prerequisite spell in the magical version printed in the MIC, even though limited wish is the equivalent of the bend reality power used in both versions. This has been adjusted. The school of magic assigned to the aura didn’t match; dispel magic should have given it an abjuration aura, not a divination one. Limited wish is universal, so it is now set to no school for the magical version and clairsentience for the psionic version.
