The sample half-fey described here uses a centaur as the base creature. Half-fey centaurs often lead other groups of fey or centaurs against incursions by evil beings into forested areas.

Combat

Half-fey centaurs are usually belligerent and swaggering combatants, combining the capriciousness of fey with the bravery of centaurs.

Half-fey centaurs usually charge into battle by flying in, then taking to hoof for the final combat.

Spell-Like Abilities: At will—charm person; 3/day—detect law; 1/day— enthrall, faerie fire, hypnotism. Caster level 12th; DC 12 + spell level.

Source: Fiend Folio, page 89. The template has been updated and applied to the centaur depicted in the Monster Manual (version 3.5), page 32, rather than the one in the Monster Manual (version 3.0). A version 3.5 centaur had darkvision as a special quality where the version 3.0 one did not, so the version 3.5 half-fey centaur retains that darkvision. Changed the alignment from “always chaotic (any)” to “usually chaotic good”, which is more in line with the template instructions and the base centaur’s neutral good alignment.
