Combat

A dustform formian’s own natural weapons are treated as magic weapons for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction.

Dustform Formian Worker ⬆️

While dustform formian workers retain the spell-like abilities cure serious wounds and make whole, they rarely have the numbers or impetus to actually use these special qualities. In theory, a druid could summon them in sufficient numbers to try this, but she would be better off just casting cure serious wounds on her own. Casting summon desert ally IV to call up four dustform formian workers to try make whole might be possible with careful direction. Dustform creatures, despite being mindless, do understand the languages they knew in life. However, formians in life don’t speak but commicate telepathically through the hive mind. Most druids do not have magic to do this

Dustform Formian Warrior ⬆️

Losing the poison special attack is less than optimal, but otherwise a dustform formian warrior remain a formidible threat.

Dustform Formian Taskmaster ⬆️

While dustform formian taskmasters retain the telepathy ability, they have neither the mind to communicate or understand what they receive telepathically.

Combat

Dustform monstrous spiders come in two general types: hunters and web-spinners. Dustform web-spinners are that in name only as their web special attack is replaced by the dustform template’s breath weapon. Savvy casters of summon desert ally spells will always summon a dustform hunting spider, and that is the spider represented in the statistics block above. If a caster insists on summoning a dustform web-spinner that can’t spin webs, reduce its base land speed by 10 feet.

When conjured with a summon monster spell, the caster chooses whether a dustform monstrous spider is a hunter or a web-spinner. If summoning multiple dustform monstrous spiders with a single spell, all must either be hunters or web-spinners.

A dustform monstrous spider’s own natural weapons are treated as magic weapons for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction.

Skills: Dustform monstrous spiders have a +8 racial bonus on Hide checks made in a sandy or dusty environment. They also retain the +8 racial bonus on Climb checks and the +4 racial bonus on Hide and Spot checks from the base creature. A monstrous spider can always choose to take 10 on Climb checks, even if rushed or threatened. Monstrous spiders use either their Strength or Dexterity modifier for Climb checks, whichever is higher.

Hunting dustform spiders have a +10 racial bonus on Jump checks and a +8 racial bonus on Spot checks. Web-spinning dustform spiders do not get their racial bonus on Hide and Move Silently checks when using their webs because they can’t actually spin webs. Seriously, don’t summon these losers.
